Robotics
FCSS Is committed to the growth of hands on learning opportunities for Fresno County students. One of the focuses is expand access to robotics which will allow the region to grow. in 2024-25 FCSS partnered with Chevron and Cal-MSCS to start the Central Valley FTC League in order to bridge the gap between FIRST Lego League and FIRST Robotics Competition. This expansion included supporting 10 schools to start their robotics programs which resulted in the creation of 12 FTC teams. All told, the Central Valley now has 16 teams from Atwater to Visalia that have participated in the Central Valley FTC League events.

2025-26 Empowering Rural School with Robotics
Our continued efforts to expand access to robotics programs in rural Fresno County begins on May 1st, 2025 with announcing the support of 20 schools in developing robotics teams. In this second year of support schools will be allowed to choose from either FIRST Lego League (FLL) or FIRST tech Challenge (FTC) based on what programs fits their school the best. FLL teams have up to 10 students and is based on the Spike Prime Lego Robotics Kits while FTC have up to 15 students and are based on a highly configurable, expandable and customizable kit of parts that results in a robot up to 18 inches square.
If your interested in developing either an FLL or FTC at your school, please complete the application below. Alternatively you may use the links to the right and learn more about each program and/or reach out to the Coordinator of this project. Jeran Ott, Ed.D. jott@fcoe.org or 559-497-3786.
